Are You Thinking Of Buying A High Efficiency Furnace?
Buying a new, high efficiency furnace is an important undertaking. You want to receive the best quality product you can get to ensure the safety and comfort of your family. When shopping for a new heating system, Toronto Furnace Sale is ready and able to answer any questions you might have about this very important purchase.
Some questions you may want to ask your furnace salesman include:
1.) What is the furnace’s efficiency?
You want to stick to furnaces with an efficiency of at least 94%.
2.) What size furnace do I need for my house?
Many of the forced air furnaces found in Toronto homes are oversized. Energy efficient furnaces should only be 30-40% larger than your home’s calculated requirements.
3.) Will my new furnace be compatible with my central air conditioning unit?
Furnaces that are used in conjunction with a central air conditioning unit need to circulate more air than the ones that are used solely for heating so that the cooling coils don’t freeze up. Before asking for a quote from your salesperson, make sure they know if you have central air.
4.) What size and kind of furnace fan motor do I need?
The amount of electricity that a furnace blower fan motor will require is something that is often overlooked when purchasing a new furnace. Many homes with oversized fan motors use much more electricity than needed because it doesn’t take that large of a furnace fan motor to operate their unit. To avoid unnecessary electricity usage and large bills, be sure to ask your salesperson to make sure that the motor is sized properly for heating, heating and air conditioning, the size of your ducts and even distribution of heat throughout your home. Normally, DC variable motors are the most efficient type, though they tend to run about $500 to $800 more than others. However, they will save you money in the long run.
5.) Will I need a condensate pump?
Occasionally, a small electrical pump is needed in addition to the furnace in order to pump furnace condensate to your sewer. Be sure to inquire if you will need a condensate pump. Most higher percentage efficient furnaces will require you to have one as they create condensation as a result of combustion. A condensate pump will allow your furnace to be properly drained even if your only available drain is not near the furnace.
6.) Will I need a special kind of thermostat installed?
You may wish to consider purchasing a thermostat that can be programmed to set the heat back while you are away for a few hours or during the night.
The people at Toronto Furnace Sale will help you decide what furnace is right for your home and answer any questions you have about the purchase, installation and upkeep of your new heating system. Stop by and get your free quote today!
