Applewood Air can help provide relief with a few simple air-filtering home solutions.
Start By Filtering Out Ragweed
While you’re somewhat safe from Ragweed indoors, small particles can still trek through your home. From opening windows, to opening doors and leaving your shoes inside the house, you invite allergens into your home in addition to the particles on your clothes.
Sadly, no one can avoid bringing in Ragweed, but there are ways to combat the allergen once it’s in your home.
Ragweed and other allergens can be taken out of the air through an air filter. A High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration system in an air purifier can be used to trap both small and large particles that affect the indoor air quality in your home.
How Does a HEPA Filter Work?
A HEPA filtration system not only has a regular filter to trap larger dust particles, but is also has a HEPA filter that traps the smaller allergens, like Ragweed. HEPA filters are designed differently than a regular air filter. A HEPA filter must be able to trap microns the size of 0.3 and higher.
If you’re wondering how big a micron is, the human eye can only start seeing microns size 10 or higher.
Once particles pass through the initial filter, they must get past the HEPA filter. Ragweed, other outdoor allergens, and mold begin at a micron size of 3, while bacterial particles start at 0.3 microns. This means that by the time air passes through a HEPA filter, the only particles left in the air are oxygen particles and other gas emissions. Allergens and mold remain trapped by the filter, providing ridding the air of 99.97%-99.99% of allergens and other particles that reduce air quality.
Allergy sufferers can notice the difference in their home air quality if they have a HEPA filter in their home. Although HEPA filters cannot be added to furnaces due to the nature of the filter, there are easy integration methods that add the power of the HEPA filter into your home airflow. If adding a HEPA filter to your home airflow system isn’t an option, there are always portable air filtration towers that have HEPA filters. Having a HEPA filter on a filtration tower is perfect for allergy sufferers living in a smaller condo, apartment, or for students living in a dorm room.
